A true craftsman, David Hurwitz designs and builds contemporary furniture pieces, one at a time at his studio in central Vermont, using hand carving along with traditional methods of furniture construction and joinery. His work has been exhibited widely in galleries and museums, and is in public and private collections throughout the U.S., as well as in Canada, Mexico and Europe. All of David’s furniture is made to order, with custom designs being one of his specialties. Each piece is made using the highest quality materials available, with meticulous attention to detail. When purchasing a David Hurwitz original, you acquire a work of superior craftsmanship, built to museum quality standards, designed and built to last many generations.
David can build all of his designs in custom sizes, other woods, and in custom colors for painted pieces, and he can also design and build totally new, one of a kind custom pieces to suit your needs. For pieces incorporating stone, like stone table tops, he works with a local stone fabricator who does custom work, and while he has mostly focused on using local Vermont stone, like Vermont slate and Vermont verde green marble, all other types of stone are possible as well.
