Modern side table in carved and painted poplar with a petrified wood top; a truly one of a kind piece. The entire surface of the carving has a dynamic surface texture of hand carved tool marks. The petrified wood is a slice of the end of a petrified log, and features the rings of the tree, internal crystals, and mottled colors of agate in portions of the fossilized wood. The petrified wood is from an ancient tree related to modern fir and sequoia.
This piece looks great in an entryway or foyer, for displaying a unique vase, sculpture, a special plant or flower arrangements. I can also make this design with a wood top instead of petrified wood, and I can modify this design for shorter or wider tables.
