Carved FSC sustainably harvested cherry, 1/4” thick mirror glass with polished edge, baltic birch plywood.
I designed this free-form wall mirror as a departure from the other frames I have been making that fully encompass the glass. This design revisits a concept I touched on in a smaller open frame mirror I made in 2000. The carved form of this one is based on the form of the other ones, but is a little more freed up and more flowing in its overall feel. The asymmetry of the design adds to the feeling of motion. This frame is carved from thicker wood than the others, which gives it added depth and dimension. The mirror glass has polished edges and is set off from the wall, creating a shadow line that makes the glass itself feel more sculptural and like it is floating.
I have made many different mirrors over the years, in custom sizes, different woods and custom colors. If you are interested to see different examples, or would like to discuss a custom order, please contact me.
