Buxton Coffee Table

Inspired by history, the Buxton Coffee Table from Guild member Pete E. Micheline is a large version of Thomas Jefferson’s rotating book stand with a few interesting additions. The functionality works in a similar fashion, but being larger allows for the four adjustable panels to be used as a work surface as well as a book stand. The wide mahogany panels are joined with breadboard ends to keep things flat over the years. The boards used for the central panels all came from one large plank, and the continuous grain simplifies the overall look. Made of solid South American Mahogany and brass, it is finished with linseed oil, turpentine, shellac and paste wax.

You’ll be carried away to the clouds in your newly found dream bed. Crisp, modern design that shows off the beautiful natural texture of the grain with a natural oil finish that highlights the colors of the wood. The highly-skilled use of the hand plane leaves gently undulating sweeps across the silky surface of the wood. Currently available in American cherry, hardwood or hard maple in queen or king size.
