My name is Pete Michelinie, and I build furniture for a living. It is my goal to create pieces which will be cherished, admired, and passed down for years beyond my own existence. This is why I hold high standards in my execution and attention to detail.
I work primarily on commission in South Pomfret, Vermont. My work is generally going to clients close by in the New England area, though for a price furniture can be shipped across the country or world. I prefer to work on commission, designing pieces together with the client. Every so often I work on speculation, creating my own designs and ideas for galleries and shows.
My current shop rate is $42/hr, plus materials and delivery. This rate covers my life cost right now, in October 2019 it went up a few dollars to help cover the cost of my wife going to nursing school. To get an idea of how long it takes me to build a piece of furniture you can visit my personal website and find the time it took me to build each piece under the title of the piece. I pride myself in efficiency. In 2008 I graduated from the renowned furniture making program at The North Bennet Street School. The program requires their students to complete three major projects and I finished with twelve.
