The drawers of the armoire are all lined with velvet and are hung on the side with runners. The hand cut dovetail joinery is on display here.
There is a trick shelf that pops out when pushed on. This is intended as a layout shelf for selecting jewlery from the drawers.
The Shields Jewelry Armoire is made of Curly Ambrosia Maple from New Hampshire, and Butternut that was salvaged from an old Vermont church door. The hardware is nickel plated brass. The bureau is finished with a mixture of boiled linseed oil, many coats of shellac and paste wax.
