The design was taken from an article written by Christian Becksvoort and modified slightly. I shortened the height of the rack from the more common tall style. Also, instead of a decorative finial I turned a small bowl to have a spot to place your keys. The leg is joined to the six sided column with a sliding dovetail joint. The rocket shape of the leg was derived from traditional Shaker tea tables.
The Shaker Coat Rack is made from Vermont grown Sugar Maple. It is finished with boiled linseed oil, shellac and paste wax.
