Custom end table with a round base of Douglas fir with a curly Vermont sugar maple top.

I made this little one-of-a-kind end table as a way to explore form on the lathe, by making the round base. It is my first time using Douglas fir in a piece of furniture. The stripes in the grain of the base are the hard and soft parts of the growth rings of the tree, between the darker and harder winter portion, vs. the softer and lighter colored summer portion of each year of growth.
I can make this design in custom sizes, with larger table tops and other shapes for the base. I can also make it in other woods. Please contact me to discuss options.
This table was in a show of the Guild of Vermont Furniture Makers at the Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro, Vermont in May/June, 2026.
