Custom furniture maker and designer Jim Becker began his woodworking career in 1979 at Lash Brothers Boatyard in Friendship, Maine helping to build a 65 foot wooden fishing boat. In September of 1980 he switched jobs beginning a five and a half year stint at Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers (then of New Gloucester and now in Auburn, ME) making Shaker inspired and custom furniture. Since January of 1987 he has been on his own making and designing furniture and some cabinetry in a wide variety of styles. His best selling items have been Shaker inspired pieces. However please do not feel limited by or to ” what you see.” More than half the business is one-of-a-kind work. Included are period reproductions, adaptations and original designs. Indeed many of the Ming Shaker Furniture Line items pictured were the result of custom requests.
