Ming Shaker Bookcase Credenza

Another item in my Ming Shaker Style this Bookcase Credenza was designed to compliment one of my Mr. Bothwick’s Desk (click here) which occupied space in the same office.  Recently the law office where this case was used reorganized and decided to have uniform furniture throughout.  Unfortunately they didn’t hire me to do the 200 plus offices, but I did get to modify this piece; I made the top into a free standing bookcase.  You can read about it on my blog: (click here).  The base of the resulting bookcase is new cherry and therefore much lighter, however over the course of a year or two the new base will darken to match the patina of the older wood.  I later made a matching piece to the base to support a large screen TV.  The two cabinets sit on opposite sides of a fire place.
