About Jim Becker

Beginning in 1979 with a year at Lash Bros. Boatyard in Friendship, ME and continuing for 5 1/2 years at Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers (then of New Gloucester and Auburn, ME) I learned to make things well. I learned to make beautiful things from wood. Since January of 1987 I have been in business for myself, making freestanding furniture and the occasional furniture grade kitchen, jewelery store fixtures, and built-ins. With the possible exception of sanding I enjoy all aspects of the job: working with the customers to design and or price a project, choosing the lumber, building, finishing, and delivering (I only do this occasionally anymore though I do enjoy meeting my customers and seeing the finished piece in place). More than half my work is one-of-a-kind, objects I have not made before. I would be happy to work with you to design and or to price something entirely different from what you see here.
