Master furniture maker David Boynton has been creating custom furniture since 1982, blending the old with the new from his Plainfield, VT workshop.

His philosophy is simple: “A piece of furniture needs to agree with itself.”

Whether designing a traditional piece or something out-of-the-box, he focuses on proportions, materials, and the overall flow of the design. From cherry and walnut to the creative use of veneers, his pieces are crafted with careful attention to detail.

David’s approach is rooted in years of learning from skilled tradesmen and mentors, like Michael Coffey, who encouraged him to “think outside the box and push yourself technically.” This balance of inspiration and craftsmanship is why his work stands out in the world of custom wood furniture.
