Working from his one‑man shop in South Newfane, Working from his one‑man shop in South Newfane, Chris Ericson designs and builds contemporary solid hardwood furniture inspired by Japanese and Shaker aesthetics, while never feeling bound by them. His work explores the balance between refined and natural lines, brought together through careful wood selection, traditional joinery, and subtle hand‑tool marks.

Chris has been drawn to wood since childhood and gradually found his way into furniture making through years of hands‑on carpentry and travel before committing to studio making full‑time in the late 1990s. His pieces often highlight natural edges and thoughtful details that create harmony and quiet strength.

From standalone cabinets and beds to experimental lighting designs that bring nature indoors, Chris finds inspiration in art, craft, and the Vermont landscape. His studio is small and intentionally messy, a creative space where ideas take shape at their own pace.
