This custom made design is a nod to Emile Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933), French furniture designer and one of the most important figures in the Art Deco movement. Materials here are solid cherry and quarter sawn cherry veneer for casework, with curly maple for beading and foot detail. Drawers and doors are a sequenced Roble veneer. Door/ drawer pulls are turned Tagua nut (palm ivory), a sustainable resource and almost indistinguishable from the real thing. This custom sideboard is a companion piece for the conference table I built for Highland Center for the Arts.
