This is a popular form we’ve been making now for a couple of years. It evolved out of the Empire series of console tables we were making for our gallery. The beauty of the central pedestal is the flexibility it affords for chair placement and the ease of adding leaves. We’ve done them in bubinga, mahogany, maple and cherry in both round and racetrack form; with and without center or edge inlays…..there are lots of options with this concept. Because of the pedestal base, you’re pretty much limited to about 46″ for the main part of the table top. See a table like this being built, start to finish at the link below:
