On a visit to an asian antiques shop I was struck by the simple beauty of the brass pin closures on the cabinets. This piece started with the door closure. The right door becoming a “canvass” to highlight the form of the branch. It also became an exploratiion of the idea of seduction, the small window only partially revealing the contents to draw one in. The interior is bright red in a nod to red laquered antiques.
Flame birch, beech, rice paper.
