The lid has been carved with three initials. The process takes only a couple hours, but adds miles to the overall feel of the piece. Inlaid quadrant hinges were used on the box. They prop the lid open at 95°. The lock and inlaid escutcheon are also high quality brass make. Strong, well made and properly installed hardware give this piece a luxurious fit and finish. The entire piece was made from a one inch thick board of birdseye maple. The cause of birdseye is still unknown and remains one of natures finest mysteries.

Made of Birdseye Maple. The box was designed by Charlie Shackleton at ShackletonThomas. The padded lid and tray bottoms are lined with royal velvet. Finished with linseed oil, shellac and wax.
